Where to find coupons?

August 16, 2009

in Beginners

Finding Coupons:

1. The Sunday Newspaper: Get the biggest paper your area has to offer. The paper will contain one or more of three major sources: Smart Source, Red Plum, and Proctor & Gamble. There are a few times a year that no coupons are in the paper. Also always check through the Parade insert, occasionally it has a coupon or two in it
2. Printable Coupon Websites:
Coupons.com All Kinds of Coupons
Redplum.com All Kinds of Coupons
SmartSource -All Kinds of Coupons
http://www.eatbetteramerica.com/coupons/ -General Mills Coupons
http://www.bettycrocker.com/ -Betty Crocker & General Mills Coupons
https://www.pillsbury.com/ -You must become a member for these Pillsbury Coupons
http://www.mambosprouts.com/ -Organic Coupons
http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/clip/coupons.aspx Lots of different Coupons for Box top Products
http://www.wyeth.com/products/otc -Advil, Alavert, Robitussin, Centrum and more
http://www.hotcouponworld.com/ – This is a master list of all coupons and it is updated often
3. Go to websites and request samples. ****WARNING**** Get another email address for this purpose or you will be bombarded with emails!
4. Call Companies
5. Check my blog; I will add coupon books that are available for you to request.
6. Keep your eyes peeled for Blinkies ( the little red box in stores that gives coupons), Booklets (Many stores have little booklets out around the store that have coupons in them)
7. Magazines-My favorite is All You magazine. It is only available at Wal-Mart or through subscription. It is well worth it because it is loaded with coupons.
8. You can also order coupon booklets online; you can find them on EBay and other sources. It is illegal to sell coupons; legitimate clipping services only charge a small amount for processing, handling and postage.

Coupon Policy
Publix Shopping

Publix Coupon Policy Q & A

Publix accepts manufacturers’ coupons (limit one per item), Publix coupons, valid Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors identified for each Publix store. (Competitor names are posted at each Publix store.) All coupons must be originals—no copies.

  • We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only.
  • We will not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons.
  • We will only accept coupons for identical merchandise we sell.
  • Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon and we reserve the right to limit quantities.
  • Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.00.
  • For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate purchase.
  • We will not accept coupons presented via a mobile phone or device.
  • We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item.
  • Digital offers cannot be combined with manufacturer paper coupons on the purchase of a single item.
  • Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order.
  • The order total must be equal to or greater than the combined purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.

Buy One Get One Coupons

Q: I have a buy-one-get-two-free coupon from a competitor of Publix. Will Publix accept it?

A: Yes. If you’re purchasing the identical merchandise at Publix, we’ll accept BOGO and buy-one-get-two-free coupons from competitors’ stores.

Dollars-Off-Total-Order Coupons

Q: A competitor on a store’s approved list is offering a $5 off a $25 order coupon when I sign up to receive communications from them. Will Publix take this coupon?

A: Yes. You’ve already signed up with the competitor to receive the coupon, so now all you have to do is purchase $25 worth of groceries.
Q: Will Publix accept a competitor’s coupon that indicates I must present my retailer rewards card to use the coupon?

A: Yes. Publix doesn’t require you use a reward card, but we would be happy to honor this coupon if you meet the other purchase requirements on the coupon.

Coupon Stacking

Q: Can a store coupon, competitor coupon, and manufacturer’s coupon all be used for one item?

A: No. A manufacturer’s coupon can be combined with a Publix coupon or with a competitor’s coupon, but not both.
Q: If an item already has a manufacturer’s coupon attached, will Publix still take an additional manufacturer’s coupon on the item?

A: Sorry, but no. Publix will take an additional Publix or competitor’s coupon, but we can only take one manufacturer’s coupon for an item, regardless of where the coupon came from.
Q: I have a “$1 off the purchase of two items” manufacturer’s coupon. Can another manufacturer’s coupon be used for either of these items?

A: No. When the manufacturer issues a “$1 off the purchase of two items” coupon, it requires the purchase of two items. So, because you have to purchase both items to meet the coupon’s requirements, a manufacturer’s coupon has already been applied to both items.
Q: I have a BOGO manufacturer’s coupon. Can another manufacturer’s coupon be used for either of these items?

A: No. When the manufacturer issues a BOGO coupon, it requires the purchase of two items. So, because you have to purchase both items to meet the coupon’s requirements, a manufacturer’s coupon has already been applied to both items.

Gift Card Coupons

Q: Will Publix accept a competitor’s coupon for a free $5 gift card with the purchase of an item or items (e.g. a coupon for “Buy both Raid Max Bug Barriers 1 gallon Starter Kit and Refill, Receive a $5 store gift card”).

A: Yes, if we carry the identical items named on the coupon, you’ll receive a $5 Publix gift card with the required purchase.

Pharmacy Coupons

Q: Does Publix accept prescription coupons from all pharmacies or only from your listed competitors?

A: Publix accepts coupons for prescriptions from all local retail pharmacies.

Rain Checks and Coupons

Q: What if I have a rain check and a coupon for an item, but the coupon is now expired, though it was valid on the date the rain check was issued. Can I still use the coupon on the item?

A: Yes, Publix will accept the coupon that was valid on the date the rain check was issued.

Private Label Coupons

Q: Will Publix accept a competitor’s coupon for a private label item?

A: Yes. We’re happy to accept a coupon for a competitor’s private label product because it’s a chance to introduce you to our terrific Publix brand.

** During a BOGO sale, you do not have to purchase two items to receive the discount. BOGO items each ring ½ of the regular price. In Florida, the first item rings up full price & the second item rings up Free.

**Publix will gladly give a rain check for any sale item that is not in stock.

**In our area Publix new Ad comes out on Wednesday. In the paper on Wednesday is a coupon to get an item for a penny. You have to purchase $10 before coupons to get the item for a penny & you have to have the penny item coupon. The penny item coupon is valid for use on Wednesday. Florida does not participate in the penny item promotion.

Publix allows overage.  This means if your coupon value is more than the cost of the item, the overage amount will be applied to the rest of your order.  Example:  Sundown Vitamins $2.89 . I have (1) Store coupon for $6/2.  I also have (1) $3/2 Sundown Manufacturer Q.  I buy (2) Sundown Vitamins for a total cost of $5.78.  After my $9 worth of coupons, I will get $3.22 in overage!!!
Ask your store what Stores they consider as a competitor as this varies from store to store.

Guide to Walgreens
UPDATED 3/4/11
Walgreens use Register Rewards. These are coupons that print out from a Catalina machine, when you make your purchases. Walgreens does not have a customer loyalty card. Register Rewards are actually manufacturer coupons.

When shopping at Walgreens, you are not allowed to have more coupons than items. So you will see on blogs and websites, scenarios which include filler items. Filler items are low cost items (.10-.50 cents) that allow you to use all of your register rewards and coupons to pay for your items.
Also, when shopping Walgreens, if you purchased something that printed RR and you use those RR to purchase the same item again, it will not print RR a second time. You can however, purchase something else that prints RR, then go back and buy the first item again and pay for it with RR and they will print again.

Tips for shopping at Walgreens

1. Always pick up the monthly Walgreens Coupon booklet at the store. These are usually found when you walk in and at the end of some isles.
2. Always hand the coupons to the cashier in this order to get the most bang for your buck. Give them $/$$ first, then RR’s, Manufacturer coupons next, then any Walgreens coupons.
3. Most RR are good for 2-3 weeks, but if you are not planning on using them right away, check the expiration dates, because some expire sooner than others
*4. When shopping Walgreens, there are a few things that I do not have time to cover in class:
    a.  If using a P&G coupon for the same value as the Register Reward that is suppose to print, sometimes the RR will not print. (the coding on the coupon makes the register think you already got a reward for the item. The same thing will happen if you do back to back transactions for the same item and pay for the second item with the register reward that printed from the first item.  The second RR will not print)
    b.  Also,  If you use a RR to pay for a PG item that actually printed from purchasing another PG item, the next RR will probably not print.
    c.  I set up my scenarios on the website to avoid the above instances, but if you make your own scenarios, you will want to keep this in mind.

Here is an example of a Walgreens shopping trip:
1st Transaction
Buy:
1 Stayfree Pad $2.99
1 Plackers Dental Flossers 90 ct $2 ea
Use:
-$2 off Stayfree RP 3/28
-.50/1 Plackers RP 4/18
Total: $2.49
Get Back: $5 RR, ($3, $2)
2nd Transaction
Buy:
1 Skintimate Shaving Cream $2.99
1 Tone Body Wash $3.99
1 small filler item
Use:
-$2 RR from first transaction
-$3 RR from first transaction
-$1 off Tone Wash
Total Due: 98¢
Get Back: $6 RR, ($3, $3)
3rd Transaction
Buy:
(1) Clio Hair Trimmer $4.99
(1) Stayfree Pads $2.99
(1) Scotch Packing Tape
(1) small filler item
Use:
-$3 RR
-$3 RR
-$2 off Stayfree RP 3/28
-$1 off Scotch Tape
-scotch tape in ad coupon
Total Due: nothing (value of filler item only)
Get Back: $8 RR ($5, $3)
Now you still have $8 to go back and find something else!! How fun is this?
If for any reason your RR does not print, you can call 1-888-8Coupon and they will mail you your RR’s.

Single Check Rebates

How to shop at Rite Aid Single Check Rebates.

Rite Aid really has the easiest system of all the 3 drug stores. It is a simple rebate system where you enter in your receipt information online and your rebate is mailed to you. The system is called the Single Check Rebate. Throughout the month Rite Aid will have select items that give a rebate back when you purchase it. The rebate could be the full value of the item or a partial value. These will be listed in the ad as single check rebates. The great part about Rite Aid’s program is that you are reimbursed for the full value of the rebate even if you used coupons in the store.

How do you file for reimbursement?

Go to RiteAid.com and scroll down. You will see a link for Single Check Rebates. Click there and then click to Login. The first time you go here you will need to register, after that your information is stored and you will enter your username and password.

Once you are logged in click to enter a receipt, the system will prompt you to enter a few numbers off the top of your store receipt. After you are done click to save it. You will come back every time you shop and enter another receipt throughout the month.

At the end of the month when you are done shopping go to back to Rite Aid’s site and log in and click to submit your rebates to get your check. They give you a 30 day window after the month ends to ask for your check, and they will mail it out to if you haven’t asked yet.

After you submit for the check to process it will usually take about 3 to 4 weeks to arrive.

Things to remember

Most rebates have a limit of one per household. It could be a rebate period that is a weeklong or that lasts the entire month

In ad coupons for Rite Aid will always say “Manufacturer Coupon”. They are not! They are store coupons and can still be used with a true manufacturer coupon. If your store attempts to tell you differently use the weekly ad to point out that in many places the ad will recommend that you do this!
