Coupon Policy
Publix Shopping

1. Publix allows you to use one Publix coupon & one manufacturer coupon per item. This applies to BOGO items too. If you purchase 2 items you can use 2 Publix coupons & 2 manufacturer coupons. This is how you will get some great deals!

2. Publix accepts competitor coupons. Check with your store to confirm who they consider their competitor.

3. Publix doubles coupons up to and including $0.50. There are no limits to the number of coupons that will double. Only manufacturer coupons will double. Store and competitor coupons will not double. Publix stores in Florida do not double coupons.

4. Publix does not accept expired coupons.

5. The Publix Promise guarantees that if during checkout, the scanned price of an item (excluding alcohol and tobacco products) exceeds the shelf price or advertised price, they will give the customer one of that item free.

6. Publix accepts internet printables (IP’s).

7. Publix does not limit the number of coupons that can be used per transaction.

8. Publix registers also require that the number of coupons and items purchased be equivalent. If you have more coupons than items, a manger override will be required.

9. During a BOGO sale, you do not have to purchase two items to receive the discount. BOGO items each ring ½ of the regular price. In Florida, the first item rings up full price & the second item rings up Free.

10. Publix will gladly give a rain check for any sale item that is not in stock.

11. In our area Publix new Ad comes out on Wednesday. In the paper on Wednesday is a coupon to get an item for a penny. You have to purchase $10 before coupons to get the item for a penny & you have to have the penny item coupon. The penny item coupon is valid for use on Wednesday. Florida does not participate in the penny item promotion.

Publix allows overage.  This means if your coupon value is more than the cost of the item, the overage amount will be applied to the rest of your order.  Example:  Sundown Vitamins $2.89 . I have (1) Store coupon for $6/2.  I also have (1) $3/2 Sundown Manufacturer Q.  I buy (2) Sundown Vitamins for a total cost of $5.78.  After my $9 worth of coupons, I will get $3.22 in overage!!!
Ask your store what Stores they consider as a competitor as this varies from store to store.
A guide to shopping at CVS

CVS can be a “GOLDMINE”. It may be a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will be hooked for sure!

First and foremost, you have to get your CVS customer loyalty card. It is called an ExtraCare card. You can pick this up in the store before you start shopping. You must show this card every time you check out to get your Extra Care Bucks (ECB’s). To get even more perks from CVS, register online at CVS.com. CVS should email you coupons soon after you register.

Now that you have a card and a coupon here are the basics…

The ExtraCare system is a customer loyalty program similar to most grocery stores. You always have to show your ExtraCare card to receive the benefits. Every Sunday in the CVS ad, you will be able to see what products qualify for ECB’s. You can also check my blog at http://qtips4you.blogspot.com/ . I will put the best deals I see on my blog, and/or link you to another place that has the list with the coupon match-ups. It is using the ECB system and coupons that you will be “buying” stuff at CVS for free or very cheap.

How??

Here is a short shopping trip to try to explain it easier…

Go into CVS and buy 1 of the free after ECB items. The first time you shop, you will have to pay real money, after this, if you plan right, you should be paying very little or just tax on your items. A good example of how to get freebies is toothpaste. CVS quite often runs toothpaste free after ECB’s.

For example, in the ad you see that when you purchase Colgate Toothpaste for $2.98 you receive $2.98 in ECB’s and there is a limit of 2 (CVS usually limits the number of deals you can purchase). You remember (or see on a blog) that you have a $1/1 Colgate Toothpaste from SS 1/14. Now the fun begins..

Buy:

1 Colgate Toothpaste $2.98

Use $1/1 Colgate Toothpaste (SS 1/14)

Pay $1.98 plus tax and get back $2.98 in ECB’s printed on your receipt.

Now what….continue to next page

Now go back and grab another Colgate Toothpaste and a pack of gum, or something else that costs about a buck.

Buy 1 Colgate Toothpaste

1 dollar item

Use $2.98 in ECB’s from previous transaction

Use another $1/1 Colgate Toothpaste Coupon

Total $2.98 before tax. Remember, you will have to pay some tax.

Get back another $2.98 in ECB’s to use on your next trip!

Tips:

1. Always be sure to give them a $$/off $$$ (like the $4 off $20) coupon first, then ECB’s last manufacturers coupons & store coupons.

2. Always have a list of exactly what is free, sometimes it is very specific items and you want to make sure you are getting the right things. I usually grab a copy of the ad when I walk in, or carry mine from the paper with me.

3. If you are using a $4 off $20 or type of coupon like that make sure you have a few backup plans to hit your $20 in case your CVS is out of something. If this does happen, you can always request a rain check.

4. Take in a calculator to help you quickly add up your total to make sure you are going to have the right amount for you ECB’s to cover it.

5. Only ECB’s earned with your card will work with your card. You cannot use ECB’s acquired by someone else’s card.

6. Take a second to scan your ExtraCare card at the big red box at your store, these print coupons that may be valuable.

7. Coupons that are emailed to you are only good with your card. You can’t pass these on to a friend.

8. You need to always make sure that what you are buying is equal to your ECB’s or a little more (pennies). You can pay for $4 worth of items with $5 in ECB but you are losing money that way and don’t really want to do that. You can always find some filler items that you like, $1 disposable razors, a pack of gum, some candy.

*Rite Aid +UP Program*

The Rite Aid +UP Rewards program is a new program that started in our area in June 2010. I will give you the details as of now, but I am fairly certain they will change. The +UP program is very similar to CVS Extra Care Bucks Program. There are a few differences, but it works almost the same.

3. You can get both the +UP reward and the Single Check Rebate on items that are offering both.
4. Rite Aid has started limiting the number of +UP’s.
5. You must show your card to get the +UP’s & to pay with +UP’s.

Single Check Rebates

How to shop at Rite Aid Single Check Rebates.

Rite Aid really has the easiest system of all the 3 drug stores. It is a simple rebate system where you enter in your receipt information online and your rebate is mailed to you. The system is called the Single Check Rebate. Throughout the month Rite Aid will have select items that give a rebate back when you purchase it. The rebate could be the full value of the item or a partial value. These will be listed in the ad as single check rebates. The great part about Rite Aid’s program is that you are reimbursed for the full value of the rebate even if you used coupons in the store.

How do you file for reimbursement?

Go to RiteAid.com and scroll down. You will see a link for Single Check Rebates. Click there and then click to Login. The first time you go here you will need to register, after that your information is stored and you will enter your username and password.

Once you are logged in click to enter a receipt, the system will prompt you to enter a few numbers off the top of your store receipt. After you are done click to save it. You will come back every time you shop and enter another receipt throughout the month.

At the end of the month when you are done shopping go to back to Rite Aid’s site and log in and click to submit your rebates to get your check. They give you a 30 day window after the month ends to ask for your check, and they will mail it out to if you haven’t asked yet.

After you submit for the check to process it will usually take about 3 to 4 weeks to arrive.

Things to remember

Most rebates have a limit of one per household. It could be a rebate period that is a weeklong or that lasts the entire month

In ad coupons for Rite Aid will always say “Manufacturer Coupon”. They are not! They are store coupons and can still be used with a true manufacturer coupon. If your store attempts to tell you differently use the weekly ad to point out that in many places the ad will recommend that you do this!

Guide to Walgreens

Walgreens use Register Rewards. These are coupons that print out from a Catalina machine, when you make your purchases. Walgreens does not have a customer loyalty card. Register Rewards are actually manufacturer coupons.
When shopping at Walgreens, you are not allowed to have more coupons than items. So you will see on blogs and websites, scenarios which include filler items. Filler items are low cost items (.10-.50 cents) that allow you to use all of your register rewards and coupons to pay for your items.
Also, when shopping Walgreens, if you purchased something that printed RR and you use those RR to purchase the same item again, it will not print RR a second time. You can however, purchase something else that prints RR, then go back and buy the first item again and pay for it with RR and they will print again.

Tips for shopping at Walgreens

1. Always pick up the monthly Walgreens Coupon booklet at the store. These are usually found when you walk in and at the end of some isles.
2. Always hand the coupons to the cashier in this order to get the most bang for your buck. Give them $/$$ first, then RR’s, Manufacturer coupons next, then any Walgreens coupons.
3. Most RR are good for 2-3 weeks, but if you are not planning on using them right away, check the expiration dates, because some expire sooner than others.

Here is an example of a Walgreens shopping trip:
1st Transaction
Buy:
1 Stayfree Pad $2.99
1 Plackers Dental Flossers 90 ct $2 ea
Use:
-$2 off Stayfree RP 3/28
-.50/1 Plackers RP 4/18
Total: $2.49
Get Back: $5 RR, ($3, $2)
2nd Transaction
Buy:
1 Skintimate Shaving Cream $2.99
1 Tone Body Wash $3.99
1 small filler item
Use:
-$2 RR from first transaction
-$3 RR from first transaction
-$1 off Tone Wash
Total Due: 98¢
Get Back: $6 RR, ($3, $3)
3rd Transaction
Buy:
(1) Clio Hair Trimmer $4.99
(1) Stayfree Pads $2.99
(1) Scotch Packing Tape
(1) small filler item
Use:
-$3 RR
-$3 RR
-$2 off Stayfree RP 3/28
-$1 off Scotch Tape
-scotch tape in ad coupon
Total Due: nothing (value of filler item only)
Get Back: $8 RR ($5, $3)
Now you still have $8 to go back and find something else!! How fun is this?
If for any reason your RR does not print, you can call 1-888-8Coupon and they will mail you your RR’s.
