Vacation…hmmm that is where I would love to be right now!! Most people save for months to go on vacation. A question I hear quite frequently is, “How do I save money on meals while on vacation?” There are many ways to save on food while on vacation. Some people want to relax and not worry about cooking while on vacation, others don’t mind the extra work to pinch a penny. We will talk about both ways. Also, I would love to hear your tips as well, so please leave messages here with all of your great tips!
1.) Plan your vacation at a Hotel that provides breakfast! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Save money by eating breakfast before you leave for the day!
2.) Can’t find a place that provides breakfast?? Take your cheap cereal. oatmeal & breakfast bars with you! Some people may want to grocery shop once you get to your destination, however, you will save more money if you plan ahead and take it with you.
3.) If you choose to eat out, lunch is usually 50% cheaper than supper.
5.) If you are traveling by car, make sure and pack snacks for the trip! Much cheaper than buying snacks at convenience stores.
6.) If you are able to cook your meals, plan ahead! Make a menu plan. Take as many of your ingredients as possible. Condiments and spices tend to be much more expensive while on vacation. Pack things like Salt, pepper, ketchup, mayonnaise & mustard.
7.) Plan crock pot meals! Crock pot meals are an easy, inexpensive way to have supper ready when you get home from a long day of sight seeing!
8.) Pack sandwiches and snacks for lunches while you are out sight seeing!
10.) Stop at the Welcome Center on your way into town. Lot’s of times you can find coupons for restaurants & other fun things to do on your vacation!
