Looking for a way to organizing all of your holiday ribbons?? Michaels has an awesome idea!! I love this simple and inexpensive project!! Head over HERE to get a 40% off Michaels coupon to save on your supplies for this project!

What you need:
Masan Jars w/ lids
Paint
Ribbon
Glue Gun
Hammer & Nail
Wooden Spool
Dowel 36″ X 3/16″
Embroidery Floss
Scissors

Instructions
STEP 1
Paint the Mason jar band white, using the paintbrush. Let dry.

STEP 2
Make two holes in the Mason jar lid using the hammer and a large nail. Holes should at least 3/16″ so the dowel can get through. Make sure that you have one of the holes in the center of the lid and then place the other about an inch apart.

STEP 3
Wrap about one yard of the black floss around the wooden spool and use hot glue to seal the end to the spool.

STEP 4
Cut a piece of the dowel to about 5½” long. Place a small dab of hot glue into the bottom hole of the wooden spool and then push the 5½” dowel into the bottom of the wooden spool.

STEP 5
Add a dab of hot glue to the bottom of the wooden spool and then push through the center hole of the Mason jar lid.

STEP 6
Put the Mason jar lid dowel through the center of the curling ribbon and then thread the loose end of the curling ribbon through the bottom of the Mason jar lid open hole.

STEP 7
Place the Mason jar lid on top of the jar and then screw the Mason jar band to the jar.

Tip: Fill your Mason jar with curling ribbon or twine as desired.

painting with nature 2

The weather has been getting nicer around here and we been spending more time outside!  If you haven’t heard, the girls are homeschooling this year….So,  I have been on the look out for craft ideas for Art Time!!  What kid does not like to paint??!!!  While playing outside I started noticing some great painting utensils. Painting with nature is fun, easy and very educational for the kiddos! So how exactly do you paint with nature?

Take a walk with your kids and start looking around (make sure you take a plastic bag or bucket with you to carry your items) for items that have a different texture. Look everywhere and keep your mind open because anything goes when painting with nature! Make sure you talk about the texture and color with your kids! There are so many ways to learn during this activity. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Ideas for Painting with Nature

  • Corn Cob (there are 3 ways you can paint with corn cobs: the husk, the cob with corn on it and the cob with the corn taken off)
  • Acorns
  • Wildflowers
  • Leaves
  • Walnuts (These work well in a bin with your child holding the bin and rolling them around in the paint)
  • Pine Needles
  • Pine Cones
  • Rocks
  • Sticks
