Top 10 Uses for Vinegar

It’s time to start thinking of Spring Cleaning!!  This year I have vowed to minimize my use of chemicals!  It amazes me how well vinegar cleans!  Here is a breakdown of our 10 favorite uses for vinegar!  If you have another use, please leave it in the comments!  We would love to hear your ideas!

(1) The Bath Tub: Clean Your Bath Tub with a simple Baking Soda and Vinegar mix. The tub can get quite dirty and germy use after use. That is okay! You can clean your bath tub quick and easy with both baking soda and vinegar. Just give dirty areas a good dusting of baking soda, follow with vinegar in a spray bottle. Scrub vigorously with a sponge while the mixture fizzes away. Clean away any residue with water.
*See our tip for keeping the shower clean & tidy HERE.

(2) Brighten Your Laundry: You have a choice, spend a pretty penny on some fancy “all-color, stain-fighting, super-effective” bleach, or you can spend a couple of bucks on some plain, white vinegar. Just add 1/2 a cup of vinegar to your wash cycle to brighten all colors in your laundry loads!
*See our tip for Homemade Fabric Softener HERE.

(3) Help Heal or Prevent Bruises: Had a nasty fall or big bump into that coffee table that you swear you are going to toss the next time you run into it?? Bruises can become extremely sore after a while. However, you can make all those nasty black-and-blues go away! Next time you have a bruise, soak some cotton gauze in a little bit of vinegar and apply it to the bruised area. Let it sit for around an hour.

 (4) Drain Cleaner: Is your sink slow to drain? Chances are it’s probably a little clogged up by grime and ick. Try this Vinegar trick! Pour about a quarter cup of vinegar and a quarter cup of baking soda down your drain. Wait about 15 minutes, and then follow it all down the drain with boiling water.

(5) Frost-Proof Your Windows: Your running late…Kid’s have to be at school…you realize you forgot to crank the car..You run out the door only to find your windows are frosted over!!! You can keep Jack Frost off your windows by spraying a solution of 3 parts vinegar and 1 part water on your car windows every few weeks. [click to continue…]

So if you are following me, I recently told you about our move to Chattanooga.  The hubby got a promotion and we packed up our nearly 3000 square foot house and moved into a very small 3 bedroom apartment in Chattanooga. The picture above is our new home.  It’s a beautiful place to live, and has lot’s of accommodations.  So we are spending very little time indoors.  The girls spend most of their time between the 2 pools, one is saltwater and the other is regular.  When they are not at the pool, they are playing games in the game room, watching movies in the theater room or in the computer room, surfing the internet….Which is good, when you have very little living space! Did I mention they have a tanning bed and 2 huge fitness centers…. Time to get in shape and get brown, LOL!

Luckily, we got rid of a TON of stuff before we moved….but we still have WAY TO MUCH! Not really, too much for our family size… just no place to put what we have:-/  I have been surfing Pinterest and Amazon for storage solutions.  Here are a few things I found and purchased.  I will post pictures when I get things situated.  We have been here less than 2 weeks.  I have everything out of the boxes, but haven’t hung any pictures or done any decorating…  I am ready for this to feel like home, so hopefully, this week I can get everything squared away!

I cannot wait to get these “Wine Racks” in! They will be used as towel racks in the bathrooms. Both bathrooms only have small vanities, so storing towels underneath the sink takes up all the space.  They were only $21.99 and shipped for FREE with my Prime Membership.

Over the door storage is a MUST! I have a TEENY TINY pantry:-( You all know how I like to stock up on deals!!! So ordering 4 of these “5-Foot Vinyl Covered Steel Over door Storage Basket Racks” was a no-brainer!!! They we less than $15 each and I know they will be worth EVERY penny!

And last but not least, I ordered this “Slim Storage Cabinet Organizer Rolling Pull Out Cart Rack Tower with Wheels” Hopefully, this will be sturdy enough for canned goods:-) It was less than $25, so I am not 100% sure what it will hold.

If you have any storage solutions for small spaces, I would LOVE to hear them!!!  If you know anything about me, you probably know I am a bit of a crafting hoarder:-)  I really need ideas on storing all of my crafting supplies and sewing machines!  I am working towards becoming a minimalist in all areas of my life…..EXCEPT my crafts:-)
