Walgreens Shopping Tips
Guide to Walgreens
Walgreens use Register Rewards. These are coupons that print out from a Catalina machine, when you make your purchases separate from your receipt. Walgreens does not have a customer loyalty card. Register Rewards are actually manufacturer coupons.
When shopping at Walgreens, you are not allowed to have more coupons than items. So you will need to find filler items if you have more manufacturer coupons than items. Filler items are low cost items that allow you to use all of your register rewards and coupons to pay for your items.
Also, when shopping Walgreens, if you purchased something that printed RR and you use those RR to purchase the same item again, it will not print RR a second time.
Tips for shopping at Walgreens
- Always pick up the monthly Walgreens Coupon booklet at the store. These are usually found when you walk in and at the end of some isles.
- Always hand the coupons to the cashier in this order to get the most bang for your buck. Give them $/$$ first, then RR’s, Manufacturer coupons next, then any Walgreens coupons.
- Most RR are good for 2-3 weeks, but if you are not planning on using them right away, check the expiration dates, because some expire sooner than others.
- What exactly is an RR?? Go HERE to see what one looks like:)

The Walgreen’s by me in Trinity Florida said the Walgreen’s booklet is now manufactures coupons. Therefore you can no longer use other coupons stacked with it. They said this is a new policy. I was purchasing cottonel toilet paper and Scott paper towels. They called a manager over and she said yes this is there new policy. Is that correct?
It really depends on where you shop and which cashier you get. Walgreens is one of those YMMV stores. Some stores have been telling people this since last year:( However, Walgreens occasionally advertises using a Wags coupon with a manufacturer coupon. Go HERE to see the ad from 1/8. I see no changes in the coupon policy found HERE. My advice would be to try giving the cashier your coupons in this order…All Manufacturer coupons, then all Walgreens coupons.
Another tip, go HERE and print the coupons from the Walgreens website. (If you scroll to the bottom of the walgreens website you will see a place to click for “Store Coupons”) These are the same coupons from the coupon booklet. LOL, and Walgreens calls them “store coupons”
